I’m in NYC promoting THE SEVEN RAYS!
I’m all butterflies. My book came out exactly one week ago and now the fun part starts- promotion.
I’m packing a parka and heading to my once-home of New York City to spread The Seven Rays across the coasts.
On December 2 at 7:00pm, you can catch me at the Columbus Circle Borders where I’ll be signing copies of The Seven Rays.
I’ll be putting myself to bed early that night, because I’m going on the TODAY Show on December 3 to talk about my book. It will be worth the early wake up call for the chance to see Matt Lauer close up.
I’m beyond excited about my free event at the New York Public Library on Friday December 4 at 4:00pm. I’ll be doing a reading from my debut novel The Seven Rays. Swoon scribe Nina Malkin is moderating the reading. The event is at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, Fifth Avenue at 42nd Street. Please come if you’re in the area!
I am gearing the NYPL reading towards teens and I’m jazzed at the prospect of getting teens reading. I’ll be signing copies of my book at the event and taking questions about writing, directing and the world of moviemaking.
Now, what to wear on the TODAY Show to impress Al Roker…

Love,

Jessica Bendinger’s debut novel, a paranormal romance called The Seven Rays, is already being hailed “the nextTwilight.” (Vampire Kellan Lutz said it was “amazing” and Selena Gomez isreportedly in talks to star in the film adaptation.) It may be the author’s first book, but Jessica is no writing newbie: she’s been a rock journalist (she interviewed Salt n’ Pepa and Flava Flavwhile working at SPIN and MTV News), a Hollywood screenwriter (she’s responsible for the smash hit Bring It On, as well as Aquamarine and First Daughter), and a small-screen scribe (she wrote for the fourth season of Sex and The City). Her book is out today, so go get a copy (or you can test-drive it by reading the first chapter for free below)–we promise you won’t be able to put it down.
What inspired you to write The Seven Rays?
I’ve always been a big fan of astrology–reading my horoscope in the paper, getting my tarot cards done, stopping by a psychic if there’s one at a cafe, or checking my numerology in the back of a magazine. I just always loved that stuff, it’s so much fun. I wanted to explore it in an entertaining way–I thought it would be so cool if someone had the ability to predict what’s going to happen or to know what’s going on with a person just by looking at them. The book is really about one young woman uncovering her destiny, only it is much bigger than she imagined.
